Apartment Investment and Management Company Celebrates 15th Anniversary of Program to Give Back to Communities

Denver, CO, May 08, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hundreds of Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco) teammates volunteered their time April 1 – April 15 to address local needs through the company's philanthropic program, Aimco Cares.

The “15 days of service” campaign is one of many ways the company is celebrating the 15th anniversary of Aimco Cares. Through Aimco Cares, all Aimco teammates receive 15 hours of paid time annually to volunteer in their local areas. Each hour volunteered is eligible for a $15 match for the nonprofit organization of the team member’s choosing.

Teammates nationwide organized 44 service activities and volunteered more than 1,400 hours of service. As a team-driven volunteer program, Aimco Cares provides flexibility for teammates to support the nonprofit organizations and initiatives that matter most to them. Teammates have chosen to clean-up local parks, serve meals for direct service organizations, fund raise and participate in local races and events, and stock items at local food banks.

“Our goal with Aimco Cares is to care for the Aimco family and the communities in which we live and work,” said Terry Considine, Aimco Chairman and CEO. “Our commitment to serve others is one reason Aimco has been recognized consistently as a top place to work.”

Aimco teammates in South Florida kicked off the nationwide service campaign with a two-day beach cleanup in Biscayne National Park. Aimco volunteers picked up nearly 3,000 pounds of garbage polluting two sea turtle nesting beaches.

Aimco team members from the DC area braved a rainy day to volunteer at the National Cherry Blossom Festival on the National Mall. The team picked up waste for recycling and trash for removal, ensuring visitors from across the world could enjoy the beautiful flowers in a pristine environment.

Team members in Boulder, CO worked together to clean Greenleaf Park. "This is the third year Aimco has come out to help beautify this park," said Cassie Bohnet, volunteer coordinator for Boulder Parks and Recreation. "These types of events help companies build community in the cities where they work, live and do business, and we appreciate those partnerships here in Boulder."
