Unique Active Replication Fabric feature announced by McObject for its eXtremeDB IoT SDK bundle

Data loss between device and server becomes a thing of the past

LONDON and NEW YORK and SEATTLE, May 13, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- McObject®, developer of the ultra-fast and scalable eXtremeDB® for HPC database management system, has today announced a new iteration of its award-winning solution, eXtremeDB IoT Software Development Kit (SDK) featuring Active Replication Fabric (ARF). The unique new system was designed specifically to help solve a myriad of IoT application needs such as staging data during network malfunctions or outages, encryption of data at rest and in flight, support for time series data, and multi-tier replication (edge-gateway-server).

Unlike any other product, eXtremeDB’s IoT SDK solution has the capability to stage data when, for example, a network connection between a device and a server is lost (such as when Wi-Fi connectivity is down).  The system will then send all the relevant historical data to the network as soon as the connection has been reestablished. This differs markedly from all other database solutions on the market, which either require the developer to write their own replication code, or mandate the system continue to try to transmit messages despite the outage, ultimately resulting in unnecessary and possibly catastrophic data loss.

The new iteration of McObject’s system runs on the device, gateway and/or server, a bundled setup which means that the software is not running in just one location; this represents excellent value for customers and streamlines the entire development platform. By eliminating the need to piece together individual components of the platform, this latest innovation represents a true ‘one-stop shop’ for companies looking for performance, security and convenience.

Chris Mureen, COO of McObject, commented on the news: “We’re thrilled to deliver this enhancement to our clients in the IoT space. We always look for ways to make our clients’ lives easier, and that’s exactly what eXtremeDB IoT SDK does. ARF represents significant simplification for dealing with replication by handling intermittent connections transparently within the database system’s replication framework.”

Mureen added: “ARF is a feature we developed as part of eXtremeDB that enables data exchange between collection points and servers for distributed IoT applications, both on-demand and automatically. The function has the potential to vastly improve applications’ effective functioning and eliminates unnecessary overhead by bundling device, gateway and server database systems.”
