CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - December 01, 2015) - Instacart (www.Instacart.com), the fast-growing same-day retail delivery service, announced today that Target is expanding its partnership with Instacart to Chicago, following initial success in both the Minneapolis and San Francisco markets. Customers in Chicago can now order fresh food and grocery, health and beauty products, pet and household supplies, and baby items from Target and have them delivered straight to their doorstep in as little as one hour. The expansion timing was selected to provide guests in Chicago with another Target fulfillment option during the busy holiday season with prices on Instacart the same as Target's in-store prices.
For every Target delivery in Chicago today -- 'Giving Tuesday' -- Instacart will be donating a non-perishable food item to a local charity. In addition to Target, customers throughout Chicago can also order from Whole Foods Market, Costco (no membership needed), Petco, Mariano's, Plum Market, Tony's Finer Foods, Pete's Fresh Market, Local Foods, & Jewel-Osco.
"Our continued growth with Target in both Minneapolis and San Francisco has confirmed our customers' demand for Target on Instacart," said John Maslowski, Business Development Lead for Instacart. "We are very excited to expand our partnership to Chicago to provide even more customers convenient, same day delivery of Target's great assortment. With the holiday season upon us and winter well on its way, we are happy to provide our customers with the opportunity to shop at Target through Instacart during this busy time of the year."
Originally launched in San Francisco, and since expanded into many other cities, Instacart has fundamentally changed the traditional grocery delivery space by connecting customers with personal shoppers who shop for and deliver grocery orders in as little as one hour. This eliminates the need for costly infrastructure such as inventory, warehouses and trucks. In January 2015, Forbes named Instacart "America's Most Promising Company."
How Instacart works: Customers go online to www.Instacart.com or open the Instacart mobile app on their iPhone or Android device, select their city/store, add items to a virtual cart, and then choose a delivery window (within one hour, within two hours, or up to seven days in advance) and check out. An Instacart Personal Shopper accepts the order on his/her smartphone, uses the Instacart Shopper app to guide them through shopping, and then delivers the order to the customer in the designated delivery timeframe.
